Always Open

From the 1600s, when South-bound travellers left Belfast via Sandy Row, this place has always been open to trade.

Shops sprang up to cater for mill workers and after the railways came to the end of the street in 1839, Sandy Row became one of the busiest shopping spots in the city. By the early 1900s, there were more than 120 stores on the Row, selling everything from fashion to furniture, ice-cream sliders to school shoes. We might not have quite so many shops today but we’re still thriving and open for business.
